Grandmother here: I watch my daughter (and many like her) poised nervously over her computer at the start of each swimming registration season, desperately trying to get their children into swim lessons. Scheduling is tight, shortage of swimming instructors and pool times make it hard to get in. Yet I witness baby “swim” classes taking up resources which could be used to actually teach a 5 or 6 year old how to swim. ANY parent or guardian can take a baby/toddler to the leisure pool, blow bubbles, sing nursery rhymes - - we don’t need a qualified swim instructor for this direction, one whose time could be better utilized conducting a swim class for those kids who could actually benefit from their expertise.
